All  Programs does not populate
After much effort and many DVD's burned I was finally able to install and run WIN 7. So far not that impressed. My boot times are actually slower than before with Vista. But my concern right now is thatAll Programs does not show any programs, just a blank space. I can find them with Explorer and run them from there but they don't show in All Programs. Any suggestions?

Did you do a clean intall or an upgrade. I would recomend to start over and do a clean install if you have not. It sound like you did an upgrade and it had some issues and did not install properly.Tim Comes

Yes I did an Upgrade. I did an Upgrade to avoid all of the effort of a clean install, and would really rather fix it than start over.

You will need to do a clean install anyhow when RTM is released. It is actually faster to do a clean install and reload all the apps then to do an upgrade overtop. I have done both many times since I beta test for a hospital and a hardware vendor and it only takes me about 20 to 30 minutes max to do a clean install and reload the apps where a inplace upgrade takes usually about 60 minutes or more and it only takespart of the time. If there are any 3rd party apps that have issues with 7 will cause it not to load properly and the win 7 upgrade advisor does not find all of them or any corruption that you have in your registery that can issues. Also when you do a inplace upgrade it does not clean out any old unused Vista files or patches so you have allot of wasted hard disk space. At this time you can try and boot from the windows 7 DVD anddo a repair but there is no guarantee that you will get it to work.Tim Comes

Tried to repair off DVD and there is no option to repair system files. Only Boot files if indows does not start and a few other tools but none that wouldhelp. Is there a System File Checker tool? I know XP had one but never looked for one with Vista. So not sure where to look with 7.

Ron - There's a system file checker - from an Administrator Command Prompt (Click Start orb, type CMD, Right-click on the result and select "Run as Administrator")SFC /scannowNow then... As far as your issue goes... This issue isn't entirely unheard of. If I recall correctly, there were several posts with this issue right after the RC was released. Check out this post for a fix...
